Google Hangouts Meet is an effective solution for teleconferencing needs. The integration with Google Calendar make the application very easy to use. Google Hangouts Meet can be a solution for online learning, online meetings, or phone conferences.


Details

To set up a Google Hangouts Meet meeting via Google Calendar:

  1. Go to calendar.bethel.edu
  2. Create a new event on your calendar
  3. Under Add Conferencing and select Hangouts Meet
  4. After you save the event you will be able to view the conference number and PIN. Other people who are added to the calendar will also be able to see the conferencing information. Google Hangouts Meet does not include a separate moderator PIN.
  5. During the meeting, moderators can choose to use a webcam for video conferencing as well
    1. Any webcam connected to the moderator's computer can be used based on the user's settings
  6. A combination of a webcam, built-in microphone/speakers, USB connected webcam/mic/speaker, and phone call-ins may be utilized for a Google Hangouts Meet
    1. Please note, individuals in shared spaces may need to connect with a single computer/phone and/or be aware that others may need to mute microphones/speakers to avoid interference and excessive feedback during the meeting
  7. Add guests to the meetings or copy the URL and share it via email, Moodle, etc.

To set up a Google Hangouts Meet live stream via Google Calendar:

  1. Go to calendar.bethel.edu
  2. Create a new event on your calendar
  3. Under Add Conferencing and select Hangouts Meet
  4. Click the drop down arrow and select Add live stream
  5. Copy the Live Stream URL and share the URL via email, Moodle, etc.
  6. Do not add guests to the meeting
