Summary

Pop-up blockers prevent unwanted web pages from appearing on your screen while browsing the internet.  However, sometimes necessary pop-ups are blocked by the system. The pop-up blocker can be disabled for certain sites.  This article gives instructions on how to turn on/off the Pop-up Blocker and how to allow pop-ups on specific websites for Internet Explorer 8 and 9.

Adding Menu Bar to Internet Explorer 9

Turning On the Pop-up Blocker

If the blocker is disabled, you can enable it by following these instructions.

  1. Open Internet Explorer and select Tools in the Menu Bar.

  2. Select Pop-up Blocker and choose Turn On Pop-up Blocker

Allow Pop-ups on a Certain Website

  1. Open Internet Explorer and select Tools in the Menu Bar

  2. Select Pop-up Blocker and choose Pop-up Blocker Settings.



  3. This window displays a list of websites that allow popups. Under Address of website to allow, type the website address and click Add.



  4. Select Close. Your changes will be saved.

Removing Websites from Allowed Sites

  1. Open Internet Explorer and select Tools in the Menu Bar

  2. Select Pop-up Blocker and choose Pop-up Blocker Settings.

  3. Highlight the website's address in the Allowed Sites box and click Remove.

  4. Select Close. Your changes will be saved.
