Quiet Hours and Courtesy Hours

The academic and physical health needs of the residents have priority over other considerations, and residents should maintain a sufficiently quiet atmosphere for adequate sleep and study. Quiet hours are specifically enforced from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily. This means no excessive noise in the hallways or near the buildings. The noise level must be contained within student rooms. Courtesy hours constitute the remaining hours of the week. In a community living situation, cooperation is essential to ensure that personal freedom and preference do not infringe on the rights of others. Disrespect for the rights of others in the area of noise level will not be permitted.

It is expected that residents will be courteous and respectful of noise levels in the residence halls during the remaining hours of the day. The responsibility for confronting residents regarding noise level does not belong exclusively to the residence Residence Life staff but to all residents living in the building.
