Visitation Hours

There are no specific hours when students must be in their residences at night, but the residence life staff encourages a schedule of regular nightly sleep as a part of an individual wellness program. Visitation by the opposite sex is allowed in order to facilitate socialization and community; however, with the large number of students living in housing, certain procedures are necessary to preserve individual rights and privacy. Therefore, all visitation regulations must be observed and students are asked to display common courtesy and common sense when the rights and privacy of others are involved. In addition, it is the student’s responsibility to monitor and confront violations of visitation policy. If an RA confronts the violation an incident report will be filled out. Abuse of visitation privileges will result in fines and disciplinary action.

During visitation, room doors should remain open. Visitation is by invitation only, and all visitors must leave at the designated hours. Students in individual rooms, suites, apartments, floors, wings, or even whole buildings are encouraged to meet and set aside portions of their visitation hours for studying, private time, and in-house activities. These additional non-visitation times are clearly posted for outsiders and enforced by the residents. Approved visitation hours are as follows:

Bodien, Edgren, Getsch, and Nelson:

  • Tuesday and Thursday, 7-10 p.m.

  • Friday, 3 p.m.-midnight

  • Saturday, noon-midnight

  • Sunday, noon-11 p.m.

  • Beginning spring semester, if visitation hours have been respected, additional hours on Monday 7-10 p.m. may be added.

  • Sunday-Thursday, noon-11 p.m.

  • Friday-Saturday, noon-midnight
