Pop-up blockers prevent unwanted web pages from appearing on your screen while browsing the internet. However, sometimes necessary pop-ups are blocked by the system. The pop-up blocker can be disabled for certain sites. This article gives instructions on how to turn on/off the Pop-up Blocker and how to allow pop-ups for specific websites on Chrome
Disabling and Enabling Pop-up Blocker
- Open Chrome and click on the Chrome menu. Select Settings.
- Select Show advanced settings.
- Under Privacy, select Content settings.
- Scroll down to Pop-ups. You can enable pop-up blocker by selecting Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended) or disable it by selecting Allow all sites to show pop-ups. When finished, click Done. Your changes will be saved.
Allowing Pop-ups for Certain Websites
- Open Chrome and click on the Chrome menu. Select Settings.
- Select Show advanced settings.
- Under Privacy, select Content settings.
- Scroll down to Pop-ups and select Manage Exceptions.
- Under Hostname pattern, type the address of the website you would like to allow pop-ups for. Under Behavior, select Allow. When you are finished, click Done. Your changes will be saved.
Removing Websites from Pop-ups Exceptions List
- Open Chrome and click on the Chrome menu. Select Settings.
- Select Show advanced settings.
- Under Privacy, select Content settings.
- Scroll down to Pop-ups and select Manage Exceptions.
- Select the address you would like to remove and click the X that appears. You may now close the window. Your changes will be saved.
