*Fall 2020 Expectations*

Residence Hall “shacks” are designated locations in each area where RAs and students gather each evening for social and support connections. Shack Guidelines:

  • Shack hours will be limited to 7-9 pm or 9-11 pm. Residence Hall specific hours will be posted in each Shack location
  • The capacity of each shack will be limited to 10 students at a time
  • Masks must be worn in the shack 
  • Residence Life staff will monitor capacity limits and reserve the right to close shack if distancing guidelines are not being followed. 

Common Areas (kitchens, lounges, study rooms, laundry rooms, recreational rooms, etc.)

  • Students must wear masks in all common areas of their residence halls, including hallways, kitchens, lounges, study rooms, laundry rooms, and shacks
  • Students will be able to use only those kitchen items that they themselves provide in the common kitchen(s).  
  • Lounges and study rooms will remain open to student use
    • Students must follow social distancing guidelines 
    • Chairs/tables will be set to follow proper distancing guidelines.
    • Students or staff should not move the furniture to be closer together. 
  • Laundry rooms will be open. Students should not touch any other student’s laundry items 
  • Couches/tables will be set up to keep 6 feet separation between people. They must not be moved closer together.
  • Recreational equipment will be open to students in their residence hall lounge.  Table Tennis and Pool equipment will be available but sanitizing items must occur before and after use.  Sanitizing products will be provided.

Failure to comply with expectations and policy may result in housing suspension and/or a fine. 

*These expectations are updated because of the current COVID-19 climate. As the situation evolves, expectations may change and will be communicated to students.
